• Provide expert legal advice and guidance to the financial institution on various matters, including on corporate and commercial matters.
• Stay updated with relevant and applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards that may impact the financial institution. Identify and mitigate potential legal risks (legal or otherwise) to ensure the institution's activities are compliant.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a suite of different agreements terms, legal documents and policies related to the institution's operations. Develop a cohesive bank of agreement templates, such as loan agreements, investment contracts, vendor agreements, and employment contracts.
• Collaborate with and work with external counsels when necessary and manage associated legal risks.
• Assist in developing and implementing internal policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.
• Conduct legal related assessments and/or support due diligence to assess legal risks for potential engagements, transactions and partnerships.
• Protect and partner the business and discharge duties as part of the second line of defense to achieve business objectives.
• Identify new ways of working to enhance efficiency.
• Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on legal issues and associated risks.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide legal support and advice. Liaise with external legal counsel, regulatory bodies, and government agencies as needed.
