Job summary

A leading media company in Malaysia is seeking a System Engineer to maintain and improve the studio’s IT infrastructure crucial for animation and production workflows. The ideal candidate will support Windows/Linux servers and production tools such as Autodesk and Adobe CC, ensuring smooth operations and high performance. Candidates should have a diploma in IT or a related field and at least 2 years of relevant experience. Strong communication skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

  • 2 years experience as a System Engineer/System Admin/IT Executive/IT Support, preferably in media/animation/VFX industry.
  • Basic to intermediate experience with Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, VMware, and Google Workspace.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support Windows/Linux servers and virtualized environments.
  • Administer shared storage and implement backup/restore processes.
  • Support production tools including Autodesk and Adobe CC.
  • Automate tasks using scripting languages.
  • Troubleshoot network and performance issues to ensure smooth operations.

Job description

Responsible for maintaining, securing, and improving the studio’s IT infrastructure (servers, storage, network, on-prem and cloud) to provide a stable, high-performance environment for 2D/3D animation, rendering, day-to-day production, support, and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and support Windows/Linux servers, VMware, Nutanix AHV, AD, DNS, DHCP, file and license servers.

Administer shared storage, NAS/SAN, quotas, performance, and backup/restore.

Support Digital Content Creation (DCC) and production tools: Autodesk (Maya, etc.), Deadline render farm, Adobe CC, and related tools.

Assist in managing Google Workspace services (users, groups, security, policies).

Handle deployment and patching using MDT, WDS, WSUS.

Maintain asset management for hardware, software, and licenses.

Troubleshoot production issues: performance, renders, storage, network, user access.

Manage network configurations including VLANs, VPNs, and firewall policies to ensure secure, reliable connectivity.

Automate tasks using Python, PowerShell, Bash and document SOPs and configurations.

Requirements

Diploma/Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.

2 years experience as a System Engineer/System Admin/IT Executive/IT Support (in media/animation/VFX industry is a plus)

Basic to intermediate experience with Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, VMware, Nutanix, Google Workspace.

Experience with networking fundamentals, VLANs, VPN, firewalls.

Familiar with Autodesk, Adobe CC and studio plugins.

Experience or exposure to MDT, WDS, WSUS, and IT asset tracking.

Basic scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash.

Strong problem-solving, communication skills and ability to support after-hours during tight deadlines.
