A leading hotel chain in Penang seeks an IT Manager to oversee technology operations and infrastructure. Responsibilities include managing hotel-specific systems, ensuring network reliability, enforcing cybersecurity protocols, and training staff on IT tools. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in IT management and a strong background in hospitality technology. This position is crucial for delivering exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence.
The IT Manager is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of all information technology systems and infrastructure at the hotel in alignment with Marriott International standards. This includes the daily management and support of property-based systems such as Marriott's PMS (Opera), POS (MICROS), MARSHA, Guest Services Technology, and back-office IT tools. The IT Manager ensures that Marriott’s digital service promise is delivered with consistency, reliability, and security to enhance guest satisfaction and hotel operational excellence.
Manage and support technology platforms, including Opera PMS, MICROS POS, MARSHA, HSIA (High-Speed Internet Access), and other brand-mandated systems.
Serve as the key liaison between property-level operations and Marriott International IT teams to ensure system compliance and performance.
Monitor and respond to system alerts, downtime, and escalations in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensure uninterrupted hotel network services including Wi-Fi, VOIP/PBX, firewall, VPN, and LAN/WAN infrastructure.
Oversee installations, upgrades, and maintenance of hardware, servers, switches, and wireless access points.
Enforce Marriott International’s global cybersecurity protocols including PCI-DSS, GDPR, and data loss prevention practices.
Perform regular audits of system access and maintain user controls per Marriott’s security guidelines.
Manage IT equipment inventory and lifecycle, coordinating with approved vendors.
Liaise with external service providers and ensure SLA adherence and warranty tracking.
Provide support and basic training to hotel associates on approved applications and IT tools.
Develop IT orientation materials for new hires and support technology adoption across departments.
Lead or support hotel-level technology projects such as system migrations, new tech rollouts, or Marriott International corporate IT initiatives.
Participate in Marriott International's property-level technology reviews and contribute to the hotel’s business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
