We are looking for a HSE & Facilities Manager based in Malaysiato make an impact!

SUMMARY OF JOB

The HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and Facilities Manager, is in charge of all HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) and facilities activities on site and drives, provides support and coordinates them accordingly. The role will focus on driving best practices and benchmark standards in HSE for the site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

HSE Program Development : Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive health, safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry best practices.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards, evaluate risks, and develop strategies to mitigate workplace hazards and prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses (HIRADC and EAIA Review )

Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations. Monitor regulatory changes and update policies and procedures accordingly including :

To liaise with local authorities (DOSH, CIDB, DOE, MOH etc) and external parties (Bureau Veritas, Hygiene/ CHRA Assessor, etc) related to HSE implementation

To prepare and submit Yearly Incident Report to DOSH (NADOOPOD)

Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and promote a culture of safety, including topics such as hazard identification, emergency response, and safe work practices.

Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead and oversee investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental spills. Develop reports with root cause analysis, recommend corrective actions, and track implementation.

Safety Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess compliance with safety standards, identify potential deficiencies and implement corrective actions.

Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to effectively respond to workplace emergencies, including fires, natural disasters, and chemical spills (To coordinate and organize Fire Drill and Spill Drill.)

Safety Committees: Facilitate and participate in safety committees or meetings to promote employee engagement, gather feedback, and address safety concerns.

Contractor Management: Evaluate and manage contractor safety programs to ensure compliance with HSE requirements and safe work practices.

Environmental Management: Develop and implement environmental management programs to minimize the organization's environmental footprint, including waste management, pollution prevention, and energy conservation initiatives and ensuring compliance.

Accountability for overall HSE compliance and adherence, including exceeding ISO14001 and ISO45001.

SECONDARY DUTIES

Be the Gutor accountable person for facilities management to ensure requirements of facilities management are met by facilities management provider.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS – REQUIRED

Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or its equivalence.

Must be a Safety Officer with Green Book.

Experience in sustainability

Minimum 7 years’ experience in safety and environmental field ISO 14001 and ISO 45001

Experience of working in manufacturing and/or project environment

ISO14001 and ISO45001 certified.

Knowledge of HSE Regulations.

Strong Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities to lead and motivate a diverse workforce and foster a culture of safety

Risk Management: Proficiency in conduction risk assessment, developing risk mitigation strategies and implementing effective control measures.

Communication skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. Ability to delivery training and presentation

Problem solving skills: Analytical mindset with the ability to identify root cause of safety incidents, develop effective solutions and implement preventive measures.

Organizational skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple HSE programs, initiatives, and deadlines.
