Job Overview
The Ocean Team Leader is responsible for leading the ocean freight team to deliver high-quality service, achieve operational efficiency, and drive sales growth for the Ocean Division. This role balances daily operational management with proactive business development, ensuring both customer satisfaction and achievement of sales and volume targets.
Job Description
1. Sales & Volume Performance
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve the Ocean Division’s sales revenue and volume growth targets.
- Develop sales team, identify and pursue new business opportunities in ocean freight services.
- Work closely with the sales team to prepare quotations, negotiate rates, and provide competitive solutions.
- Maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, agents, and customers to secure favorable rates and service agreements.
- Monitor market trends, freight rates, and competitor activities to adjust strategies accordingly.
2. Ocean Freight Operations Management
- Oversee the execution of import and export ocean freight shipments, ensuring timely and accurate handling of bookings, documentation, and cargo movement.
- Monitor space allocations, freight procurement, and carrier performance to ensure operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve shipment delays, documentation issues, and operational exceptions.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, shipping line requirements, and company SOPs.
3. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor the ocean freight team to achieve both operational and sales objectives.
- Allocate resources effectively to balance workload and meet deadlines.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set targets, and develop training plans for the team.
- Foster a collaborative and customer-oriented team culture.
4. Financial & Performance Management
- Monitor the profitability of ocean freight operations and take corrective measures where necessary.
- Prepare sales forecasts, operational performance reports, and volume analyses for management review.
- Ensure accurate billing, cost control, and revenue recognition.
Requirements
- Should have at least a Degree or Master in any field, with a minimum of 8-10 years of working experience in Sea Freight Forwarding Logistics, and leading sales growth.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written. Ability to converse in Mandarin will be advantageous.
- Should have good sales experience in FMCG environment/Modern Trade/General Trade with good experience in managing a team.
- Ability to identify potential market segments, with good literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
