Responsibilities
- Prepares and maintains one or more sub-accounting functions: Journal entries, prepayment/accruals data maintenance, fixed assets and project accounting transactions, calculations, workings and account analysis, etc.
- Understand and adheres to established rules and regulations for proper controls, processes and compliance of financial reporting requirements.
- Ensures monthly closure of accounting closure - prepares profit and loss, cash flow, income and balance sheet statements.
- Performs general/flux analysis on each account and provide explanation/resolution on those requiring attention.
- Prepares, analyses and reconciles record of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions with proper documents support.
- Prepares the relevant documents and liaise with external auditors/tax agent for monthly/yearly tax filing activities such as VAT, GST, annual tax return and annual statutory audit.
- Reconcile any discrepancies and provide recommendation to resolve issue.
- Coordinates with the relevant sub-ledger and other departments in ensuring the smooth processing of operational functions and matters for each entity.
- Involved in preparing, tracking and maintaining accounting information in the financial systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and other accounting regulations.
- Prepares documents and involvements for SOX testing.
- Participates in continuous process improvement and simplification and identified projects.
Qualifications
- Typically 3 - 4 years working experience in Finance/Accounting;
- Exposure in a MNC / SSC environment focusing on General Accounting operations is much preferred.
- Audit experience in mid-sized Audit firms will be preferred, with strong understanding and skillset in audit, compliance and controls requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications and systems experience with financial ERP software, such as SAP or Oracle will be a plus.
- Understanding of accounting principles, regulations and practices (IFRS/GAAP) including compliance and controls processes and guidelines (SOX and internal controls).
- Possess analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to provide insights on financial data.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and engages stakeholders.
- Professional competencies/skills including mid-complexities problem solving skills and collaboration among others.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Professional accounting certification with recognized accounting bodies (CPA, CA) will be an advantage.
- Additional related qualification or certification will be considered favorably.
