Job description

We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Field Application Engineer (FAE) to support our customers across electronic components and consumer battery product lines in Penang. As a distributor partner to leading global brands, the FAE plays a vital role in bridging manufacturers, sales teams, and customers, providing design-in support, product selection guidance, and application solutions that ensure successful implementation of both component and battery technologies.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Support & Design-In
  • Provide technical consultation and design recommendations for semiconductors, passives, sensors, and batteries.
  • Support customers through design evaluation, circuit optimization, and component selection.
  • Conduct performance testing, validation, and failure analysis for components and batteries in customer designs.
  • Offer cross-product integration advice — e.g., matching battery characteristics with power ICs or energy management circuits as well as recommending cross for LED replacements.
2. Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement
  • Partner with the sales team to identify customer needs and propose suitable solutions from various principal lines.
  • Deliver technical presentations and demos to customers and internal staff.
  • Prepare and present application notes, reference designs, and training materials to accelerate customer adoption.
3. Liaison Between Principals & Customers
  • Act as the technical interface between customers and multiple principal brands.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers’ Quality teams and Products teams for complex technical support including quality escalation and de-escalation.
  • Provide customer feedback to suppliers for product improvement and roadmap alignment.
  • Coordinate with logistics and product management for sample evaluation and technical documentation.
4. Market Intelligence & Trend Analysis
  • Monitor market developments in IoT, wearables, automotive, and industrial electronics.
  • Track advances in battery chemistry, power management, and low-power design as well as optoelectronics applications.
  • Provide reports and technical insights to management and principals to guide strategy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in application engineering, technical sales, or electronics/battery applications.
  • Strong knowledge in:
    • Microsoft Office suite of applications especially in Excel.
    • Battery selection, charging/discharging principles, and safety certification standards.
    • Optoelectronics – LED both the visible and invisible frequency range, photo-transistors, photo-diodes, optocouplers.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with a customer-oriented mindset.
