A leading construction firm in Johor is seeking an Environmental Manager to assist in implementing and maintaining the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, at least 5 years of experience in construction, and strong analytical and communication skills. You will be responsible for conducting audits, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and preparing reports. This role is vital in promoting sustainability practices across projects, offering an opportunity to significantly impact environmental performance.
Assist in the establishment, implementation and maintenance of the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System.
Identify, evaluate environmental aspects and impacts and determine measures related to project activities.
Involve and support internal and external audits and follow up on corrective actions.
Promote awareness and training on EMS procedures and environmental best practices.
Maintain proper EMS documentation and records in line with ISO standards and IJM procedural requirements.
Monitor implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) as required by the EIA conditions of approval.
Liaise with the Department of Environment (DOE), client and subcontractors to ensure compliance with legal EIA-related requirements, HSE Management System, client's requirements, etc.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess environmental performance and report non-compliances.
Prepare and submit periodic environmental monitoring reports to relevant stakeholders.
Collect, verify and compile environmental and sustainability data (e.g., carbon emissions, energy use & waste generation).
Requirements:
Bachelor degree in Environmental or equivalent field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction field.
Data Center construction experience is a Plus.
Understanding of Health, Safety and Environment requirements and compliances within the construction industry.
Knowledge in Environmental Quality Act 1974 and other related requirements.
Familiar with relevant international and Malaysian management systems standards i.e. MS ISO 14001.
Strong analytical and communications skill.
