Job Summary
UCSI Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that develop students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. The successful candidate will foster a love for language and literature while supporting students’ academic and personal growth within an internationally-minded school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons (Lower and/or Upper Secondary) aligned with the school’s curriculum framework (e.g., Cambridge IGCSE, national curriculum, or equivalent).
- Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments that develop students’ language skills, literary analysis, and effective communication.
- Foster a student-centered, inquiry-based learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and confident self-expression.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and digital tools to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement.
- Monitor and assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Integrate real-world contexts, cross-curricular links, and contemporary texts to make learning relevant and meaningful.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum coherence, share best practices, and contribute to continuous school improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, prepare progress reports, and communicate proactively with parents and guardians.
- Promote a positive classroom culture that supports respect, responsibility, and academic excellence.
- Participate actively in school events, co-curricular activities, English-related competitions, and professional development programs.
- Uphold the school’s mission, values, and commitment to holistic education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education, Linguistics, Literature, or a related discipline.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Diploma in Education, B.Ed, PGCE, or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in English at the secondary school level.
- Strong subject knowledge, classroom management, and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage students of varying abilities and cultural backgrounds.
- Experience with international curricula (e.g., Cambridge IGCSE) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in educational technology (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, online learning platforms).
- Commitment to continuous professional development and innovative teaching practices.
- Passion for language education, literacy development, and student achievement.
