Job summary

A leading hydro power company is seeking an Electrical Balance of Plant (eBoP) Lead Engineer to oversee engineering, manufacturing, factory tests, and site installation support for electrical equipment. The role requires expertise in power transmission systems and the ability to lead projects while collaborating closely with a diverse team. Candidates should have a degree in electrical engineering and a track record in team leadership. This position is based in Petaling Jaya with possible site visits in Gerik.

Responsibilities

  • Plan power transmission from generator connection to high-voltage grid and auxiliary systems.
  • Design single-line diagram and technical specifications for various equipment.
  • Handle interfaces with internal and external parties involved in design.
  • Drive technical clarifications with the owner and owner's engineer.
  • Support scheduling, purchasing, quality, logistics, and field services.
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests for key equipment.
  • Monitor installation and commissioning until handing over to employer.
  • Escalate critical topics to the Local Project Director.
  • Monitor project budget and time schedule.

Job description
Electrical Balance of Plant (eBoP) Lead Engineer

The eBoP Lead Engineer is responsible for Engineering, Manufacture, Factory Testing, Site Installation Support and Commissioning Support for the electrical equipment in the hydro power plant such as power transmission from the generator connection to the high-voltage grid and the auxiliary systems of the hydropower plant in accordance with the contractual requirements as well as applicable standards, regulations and law.

The eBoP Lead Engineer monitors the project budget and time schedule and works closely with the Voith automation and eBoP project team.

The eBoP Lead Engineer will be located in Petaling Jaya. Once site operations and subcontractor activities begin, the role might be required to present at project site in Gerik.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning the power transmission from the generator connection to the high-voltage grid and the auxiliary systems of the hydropower plant in accordance with the contractual requirements as well as applicable standards, regulations and law
  • Designing the single-line diagram and the technical specifications for the various equipment
  • Handling interfaces with internal and external (e.g. equipment suppliers) parties involved in the basic and detail design
  • Driving technical clarifications with the owner and the owners engineer during the approval procedure
  • Supporting the scheduling, purchasing, quality, logistic and field servicey departments
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests for key-equipment
  • Monitor the installation and commissioning works until handing over to the employer
  • Escalate critical topics to the Local Project Director and the overall Project Management team
  • Monitor the budget and the time schedule of the project

Education

  • Completed technical education in the field of electrical engineering (e.g. BEng Electrical, MEng. Electrical)

Skills

  • Professional experience and expertise in electrical equipment in power plants or industrial applications
  • Previous demonstrated experience in Team Leading Position
  • Experience in dealing with complex technical systems and installations
  • Enjoy working in international and intercultural team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills
  • Capable of forming strong working relationship with project team, client and subcontractors
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in English; due to the international team set-up additional languages are beneficial
  • Ready for international and local travelling as well as being present at site
