Job description
Drafting Coordinator (Quality & Technical Review Focus)

DM Solutions Sdn. Bhd. – Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur

We’re looking for a Drafting Coordinator whose main responsibility is to review and verify technical drawings and 3D models before they go out the door. You won’t be drafting or modelling; the role is dedicated to checking, coordinating, and making sure every drawing package is correct, coordinated, and construction-ready.

This position is critical for maintaining quality across our GA drawings, shop drawings, fabrication details, BOMs, MTOs, and Tekla models. You’ll work closely with our design consultants, project managers, and drafters to catch errors early and prevent rework on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review all 2D drawings (GA, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, section details) for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Check 3D Tekla models for clashes, alignment issues, incorrect levels, and missing elements.
  • Verify dimensions, RLs, coordinates, member sizes, connection details, and annotations.
  • Perform BOM and MTO checks to ensure quantities, profiles, lengths, thicknesses, and components match the drawings and model.
  • Cross-check drawings and models with the design brief, markups, specs, RFIs, and consultant‑issued documents.
  • Flag issues early and coordinate corrections with our drafting team and external designers.
  • Ensure drawing revisions are correctly tracked, labelled, and issued through proper transmittals.
  • Liaise with project managers to confirm constructability and highlight risks or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain quality control across drawing packages before IFC release.
  • Support continuous improvement of drafting workflows, drawing standards, and QC processes.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong technical background in structural or civil drafting, engineering, or fabrication detailing.
  • Solid experience reviewing drawings and 3D models, ideally using Tekla Structures (viewer or full version).
  • Ability to identify clashes, alignment issues, inconsistencies, and design coordination problems.
  • Strong understanding of GA drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication detailing for structural or FRP/steel elements.
  • Good grasp of BOMs, MTOs, and how materials and components translate from model to fabrication.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to spot drawing errors quickly.
  • Able to communicate issues clearly with the drafting team and project managers.
  • Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and work under tight timelines.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with FRP structures, boardwalks, bridges, platforms, or similar industrial/public infrastructure.
  • Experience working in a design‑and‑construct environment.
  • Knowledge of Australian standards (not mandatory, but helpful).
What We're Looking For

Someone who is meticulous, proactive, and not afraid to push back when something doesn’t look right. The right person will help raise the quality of our drawings and prevent the mistakes from happening during project delivery.
