Job summary

An automotive service provider in Penang is seeking an experienced EV Technician to diagnose and repair electric vehicle systems, including battery packs and motors. The ideal candidate has a Diploma or Degree in Automotive Engineering, at least 2-5 years of experience in a workshop, and the ability to communicate in Mandarin. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance, inspecting EV components, and ensuring safety protocols are followed in handling high-voltage systems. Immediate availability is preferred.

Qualifications

  • EV-specific training or certification is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Candidate Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Automotive Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong experience as a technician / foreman in an authorized car workshop/dealership (at least 2‑5 years)
  • Able to communicate, read, and write in Mandarin (required for spare parts management)
  • EV‑specific training or certification is an added advantage (e.g., Tesla, Ford EV, GM EV, or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of EV systems, including high‑voltage batteries, electric drivetrains, and electronic control systems
  • Ability to comprehend English for training & testing
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to follow strict safety procedures related to high‑voltage systems
  • Available to join as soon as possible (within about 1 month)
Job Description
  • Diagnose and repair electric vehicle systems, including battery packs, inverters, motors, and charging systems
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as tire rotations, brake servicing, and software updates
  • Inspect and test EV components using diagnostic equipment and manufacturer‑specific software
  • Safely handle high‑voltage components in accordance with safety protocols
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers about vehicle issues and repair timelines
  • Stay current with EV technology advancements, training, and certifications
  • Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, repairs, and parts used
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment and proper inventory of work tools
  • Follow SOP and training to ensure all work is compliant
  • Complete all tasks in the job sheet within the lead time
  • Ensure customer vehicles are well taken care of
