A leading manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a Data Protection Compliance Officer. The role requires ensuring compliance with data protection laws such as PDPA. You will serve as the main contact for compliance matters and conduct training across all units. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and over 3 years of experience in a related field, with strong communication skills and attention to detail. Serve as the main point of contact within the organization for staff members, regulators, and relevant public authorities on issues related to data protection
Ensure that company policies comply with codes of practice such as PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act)
Evaluate the existing data protection framework to identify areas of non-compliance or partial compliance, and rectify any issues
Prepare data protection training programmes and advise staff on compliance matters
Inform and advise the Management on all matters related to data protection
Promote a culture of data protection and compliance across all units of the organization
Provide expert advice and educate employees on important data compliance requirements
Draft new and amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders
Deliver training across all business units to staff members who are involved in data handling or processing
Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues
Responsible for maintaining records of all data processing activities and liaising with data protection authorities
Any other ad hoc task assigned by a superior
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related field
Proficiency with software for preparing reports and presentations
More than 3 years of experience in data protection compliance or a related field
Expertise in data protection laws and practices, including a deep understanding of PDPA
Experience in legal, audit, risk management, and project management skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage sensitive and confidential information
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
