Credit Controller – Port Services, Asia Pacific
The position

We are looking for a Credit Controller who will be functionally reporting to Regional Credit Manager – Port Services, Asia Pacific.

About the location/department

The position will be located at Kuala Lumpur which is the heart of the city and easy to get to by public transportation.

What you will be doing
  • Act in accordance with all applicable credit processes and policies
  • Follow up of outstanding debts with contracted customers on payment status in accordance with agreed payment terms
  • Follow up of outstanding debts with spot customers on payment status in accordance with Standard Operating Process (SOP) for SPOT Credit Controllers
  • Generate and send out Statement of Accounts (SOA) to customers by the agreed date indicated in agreement or as agreed with customers
  • Gather information required to help investigation and resolution in Final DA Settlement disputes
  • Action on funds allocation instructions to Cash collector to remit the balance amount through Share Point (Settlement allocation)
  • Prepare account reconciliations on contracted customers
  • Develop and maintain relationships and regular communications with customers, make phone calls to follow up on outstanding amount
  • Communicate and work closely with internal stakeholders including Sales teams, Operations/Port teams, DA teams and Finance teams etc
  • Assist customers, Sales teams and port networks in Credit related matters
  • Escalate cases when applicable to the relevant internal network
  • Act as backup support for team members when required
Who you are
  • Minimum one year of relevant work experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant credit/accounting course.
  • Experience in the shipping industry is encouraged but not compulsory.
  • Able to meet deadlines through good time management and allocation of priorities.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Excellent communication skills (good verbal & written English is essential for this role).
  • Computer literate – sound basic skills in MS Office (Excel, Word) with good keyboard and general computer skills.
  • Reliable, enthusiastic and professional individual.
  • Works well in a team environment.
