The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and have at least 10 years of experience in MEP engineering and construction management. Responsibilities include leading construction activities, managing contractors, and ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in MEP engineering, construction management or project delivery.
• At least 5 years working in a professional MEP or project consultancy environment.
• Proven experience as a lead design consultant or project manager on data centre projects.

Job description

A leading international data centre developer and operator is seeking an experienced Construction Lead to oversee project delivery for large-scale hyperscale and colocation developments in Johor.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all construction activities across design, engineering, procurement, and project delivery teams.
• Oversee on-site and off-site works to ensure compliance with project specifications, schedule, quality, and safety standards.
• Manage contractors, consultants, suppliers, and key stakeholders throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Review and validate technical design submissions, engineering documentation, and construction drawings.
• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and change controls.
• Conduct risk assessments and evaluate design intent, delivery feasibility, and cost optimisation strategies.
• Ensure all construction activities adhere to codes, standards, and best practices.
• Perform regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and contractor performance.
• Support commissioning, integrated systems testing, and project handover.
• Lead progress meetings, drive issue resolution, and provide timely reporting to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• Professional registration with an engineering council (preferred).
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in MEP engineering, construction management or project delivery.
• At least 5 years working in a professional MEP or project consultancy environment.
• Proven experience as a lead design consultant or project manager on data centre or large-scale mission-critical projects (>10MW).
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, design standards, and construction methodologies for mission-critical infrastructure.
