Job summary

A leading capital market intermediary company located in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a highly experienced finance professional for strategic leadership within its Finance and Operations Departments. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA, and over 10 years of experience in financial services, ideally in investment banking. This role includes ensuring regulatory compliance, driving operational efficiency, and managing financial reporting processes.

Job description

We are a capital market intermediary company seeking a highly experienced and motivated professional with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Possession of a recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, or equivalent) is highly preferred, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong knowledge of financial planning and business operations, and demonstrate the ability to lead teams in delivering practical, solution-driven outcomes. A professional attitude, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to excellent stakeholder engagement are essential for success in this role.

Provide strategic leadership, direction, and motivation to the Group Finance and Operations Departments to drive efficient and effective departmental performance that supports stakeholder interests, including clients, trustees/custodians, regulators, business partners, the Board of Directors, and shareholders.

Implement, maintain, review, and improve processes for the Operations and Finance Departments and their integration with other business units and the PhillipCapital Group to enhance operational efficiency, consistency, and alignment across the organization.

Ensure the preparation and timely submission of all statutory, company, and client reports to the relevant authorities, departments, and Management/Board of Directors to meet regulatory and internal reporting requirements.

Ensure adherence by the Operations and Finance Departments to all relevant regulatory policies, guidelines, and laws to maintain full compliance and mitigate operational and legal risks.

Review amended, revised, or new rules and guidelines issued by relevant authorities or management policies and update the Operations and Finance Manual accordingly to ensure timely alignment with regulatory and internal requirements.

Act as the Approving Authority and/or Authorized Signatory for allowable payments in accordance with PhillipCapital Group Malaysia’s finance policy to ensure compliance with internal controls and approval procedures.

Oversee the implementation of cybersecurity controls and data protection measures across Finance and Operations to safeguard critical financial systems, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and mitigate operational cyber risks.

Implement, maintain, review, and improve processes for the Operations and Finance Departments, including digital transformation and automation efforts, to enhance efficiency, integration, and alignment with the PhillipCapital Group.

Ensure that all Audited Financial Statements for both the companies and the managed Funds, as well as all Fund Reports, are reviewed, signed off, and submitted to the relevant authorities within the prescribed regulatory timelines, in full compliance with applicable financial and statutory reporting standards.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Possession of a recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
  • Candidates should have at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the financial services industry; experience in an investment banking environment is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in leading teams, particularly within operational or cross-functional environments, is an added advantage.
  • Highly organised and able to provide solutions from an operational perspective, with a strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to exploring new challenges and driving continuous improvement.
