Job summary

A legal firm in Malaysia is seeking to hire legal assistants to support litigation departments. The role involves conducting legal research, drafting documents, managing client records, and preparing for court proceedings. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent, possess excellent communication skills, and be diligent. Own transportation is required, and candidates should be able to work during weekends and public holidays when needed. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic legal team.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • To support the litigation departments within the organization.
  • To conduct research on various legal issues and case laws. Prepare comprehensive reports and summaries for review.
  • To assist in drafting legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and contracts.
  • To support client consultations and communications. Prepare case files and assist in managing client records.
  • To assist in the preparation for court proceedings, including organizing evidence and preparing exhibits.
  • To handle administrative duties such as filing documents, managing case schedules, and other office tasks as required.
  • To observe court proceedings and assist in preparation for court appearances.
  • To handle multiple tasks at any given one time and to complete the assigned tasks within the requisite time frame provided.
  • To handle any ad-hoc matters assigned as and when necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent and/or a Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) or equivalent.
  • Excellent command of both English and the National languages (both spoken and written).
  • Must have good character, attitude, aptitude, soft and communication skills to ensure assimilation into the existing team of dedicated and committed lawyers and supporting clerical staff is done with ease.
  • The attributes of being diligent, hardworking, self-driven and highly motivated are must haves as well.
  • Must possess own transportation.
  • Must be able to accomplish assigned tasks and conduct research during the weekends and public holidays, whenever it is necessary to do so.
