Job summary

A manufacturing firm in Penang is seeking an experienced Automotion Engineer to oversee the design and development of automation projects. The ideal candidate must have over 5 years of experience in injection molding processes and hold a Bachelor's degree in Automation or Electrical Engineering. Responsibilities include coordinating with vendors, performing robotic programming, and ensuring maintenance of automated machines. AUTOMOTION ENGINEER (MOULDING & SECONDARY PROCESS)

Lead the design and development of automation machines within the project timeline.

Work towards production improvement through automation and cost-reduction initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Evaluation & Development
  • Evaluate and justify new projects with potential for automation development.

  • Lead the design and development of automation machines within the project timeline.

  • Work towards production improvement through automation and cost-reduction initiatives.

2. Technical Expertise & Programming
  • Perform robotic programming, troubleshooting, and modification as required.

  • Carry out electrical and mechanical work related to jigs, fixtures, and machines.

3. Vendor & Supplier Coordination
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for the development of new jigs, fixtures, and automated machines.

4. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Monitor preventive maintenance for machines, tools, and jigs to ensure timely completion.

  • Ensure prompt corrective action for breakdowns involving jigs, fixtures, and machines.

5. Communication & Reporting
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with personnel from all departments on automation-related matters.

  • Ensure timely submission of performance reports to management.

6. Team Development & Leadership
  • Improve and enhance the technical skills of Process Technicians.

  • Be accountable for the tasks assigned to subordinates and ensure their performance meets expectations.5. Collaboration & Project Management.

7. Others

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal policies.

REQUIREMENT:

  • More than 5 years of experience in injection molding processing including understanding of injection molding process, machines, robotics, and auxiliary equipment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, SPC, FMEA, 8D problem solving skill is added advantage.

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capable of working independently.
