Job summary

A prominent legal firm in Petaling Jaya is looking for an Associate in the Tax Practice Group. The ideal candidate will provide tax advisory on corporate and personal matters, assist with tax audits, and handle legal research. A minimum of second upper LLB and 3-4 years PQE in tax matters is required. Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with strong analytical skills, is essential. Associate - Tax Practice Group

Job Description:

  • Provide tax advisory on corporate, personal and cross-border matters.
  • Review tax compliance issues including income tax, RPGT, SST, stamp duty and withholding tax.
  • Assist with tax audits, investigations and represent clients before LHDN.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions, submissions, and advisory notes.
  • Conduct tax research across various industries, including corporate tax, income tax, SST, RPGT and capital gains tax.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum second upper LLB and where applicable, with BPTC or CLP.
  • Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
  • Experience in negotiating, drafting and reviewing agreements for real estate transactions.
  • Experience in retail banking documentation and process.
  • Working experience in medium to large law firms.
  • Strong command in written and spoken English.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Well-versed and able to handle the full process of real estate transactions.
  • Good analytical and reasoning skills.
  • 1-3 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in construction-related dispute work.
  • Familiarity with common construction claims and standard form construction contracts.
  • Strong verbal and drafting skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Professional, personal and able to work effectively in a team.
