Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for providing legal support to the Company’s property development operations, including conveyancing, contracts, compliance, and risk management to ensure all projects and corporate matters are legally sound and compliant with applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities
Corporate & Commercial
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements including, without limitation Joint Venture Agreements, Novation Agreements, Letter of Awards, NDAs, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), Consultancy Agreements, Sales & Marketing Agreements, and Property‑related commercial contracts.
  • Provide legal support to business units across GD Group companies.
Property & Development Matters
  • Handle SPA, tenancy, agency appointments, collaboration agreements.
  • Assist in matters involving strata, land titles, caveats, charges and POA.
  • Liaise with solicitors, land offices, local authorities and regulators.
  • Litigation & Dispute Support
    • Assist in managing litigation, adjudication (CIPAA), tribunal and arbitration matters.
    • Coordinate with external counsel, prepare case summaries and trackers.
    • Monitor timelines, compliance and cost exposure.
Regulatory & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws (Companies Act, NLC, PDPA, HDA, etc.).
  • Assist in preparation and review of board papers, resolutions and internal legal policies.
  • Support audits and internal risk management initiatives.
Advisory & Operational Support
  • Provide timely legal advice to management and internal stakeholders.
  • Support contract administration and risk mitigation.
  • Assist Legal Manager in departmental planning and workflow management.
Follow Up, Coordination and Timeline Management
  • Proactively monitor, track and follow up on all assigned legal matters, including contracts, litigation, approvals and compliance items with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain clear timelines, action lists and status trackers for ongoing legal matters.
  • Ensure all internal and external parties comply with agreed timelines and deadlines.
  • Escalate delays, risks or non‑compliance promptly to the Legal Manager with proposed solutions.
  • Coordinate submissions, responses and approvals to avoid bottlenecks and operational delays.
  • Assist the Legal Manager in prioritizing workload and managing multiple concurrent matters efficiently.

  • Perform other legal duties as assigned by the Legal Manager from time to time.
JOB SPECIFICATION
  1. Qualification
    • (a) Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent
    • (b) Preferably called to the Malaysian Bar
  2. Experience
    • (a) Assistant Manager (Legal): Minimum 6–8 years legal working experience in legal firm/ in‑house
    • (b) Senior Legal Executive: Minimum 4–6 years legal working experience in legal firm/ in‑house
    • (c) Experience in property development, corporate/commercial or in‑house legal role preferred
