Job summary

A leading accounting firm in Malaysia is seeking an Assistant Manager for Accounts. In this role, you will support the Manager in managing full sets of accounts, ensure compliance with MFRS / MPERS, and supervise junior accountants. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting or Finance, a professional qualification such as ACCA, and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin is required for client communications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of financial reporting & accounting experience in SMEs or professional firms.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in spoken Mandarin for client communications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle and review full sets of accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with MFRS / MPERS and statutory requirements.
  • Supervise and guide junior accountants.
  • Prepare management reports and assist in budgeting.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and clients.
Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting / Finance; ACCA / MICPA / CPA / ICAEW.
  • Min. 5 years of financial reporting & accounting experience in SME or professional firm.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English & Bahasa Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead accounting operations and client portfolios.
  • Review and approve financial statements under MFRS / MPERS.
  • Manage workflow, reporting deadlines, and team performance.
  • Provide accounting advisory and process improvement input.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax laws.
Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting / Finance; fully qualified ACCA / MICPA / CPA / ICAEW.
  • Min. 6 years of experience, with managerial exposure.
  • Strong technical, communication, and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • It requires proficiency in spoken Mandarin to handle client communications and documentation from overseas.
