A leading logistics company in Malaysia is seeking a legal advisor to provide expert legal advice and manage the company's corporate governance and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess an LL.B (Hons), be called to the Malaysian Bar, and have at least 2 years of experience in litigation and contract management. Responsibilities include reviewing agreements, advising on compliance matters, and managing risk exposure. A strong background in commercial disputes and negotiating skills is essential. Provide legal advice to Management and Business Units on commercial, operational and regulatory matters, to safeguard the company’s interests.
To draft, review, vet and negotiate the commercial and legal aspects of agreements.
To attend internal meetings with other departments or external meetings, as required.
To identify legal, financial and operational risk in contracts and propose mitigation strategies.
To manage the Contract Repository System (CRS) and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
To provide general legal support to all departments as and when required.
To manage debt recovery matters, including the issuance of Notice of Demand, follow up on outstanding accounts with business units and liaison with external solicitors for litigation and recovery.
To monitor the progress of ongoing legal cases.
To provide the Management with updates on risk exposure and recovery status.
To assist in the preparation and review of board approval papers and related corporate documents.
To ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, internal policies and governance standards.
To advise Management on corporate governance, conflict of interest and compliance matters.
To provide legal support and advisory to People Division on employment law and industrial relations matters, as and when required.
To perform any other legal, compliance or governance-related activities as may be assigned by Management from time to time.
LL.B (Hons) from a recognised university.
Called to the Malaysian Bar with a minimum of 2 years of practice experience.
Strong litigation background particularly in commercial disputes, contract enforcement and/or debt recovery.
Prior in-house counsel experience is an added advantage, preferably with exposure in a public listed company.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong legal drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
