A private firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Assistant Manager to manage and coordinate commercial projects, develop business plans, and liaise with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of experience in commercial management and possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with governance standards and identifying new business opportunities. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to strategic planning and project execution.
Manage and coordinate newly established commercial projects from concept development through execution and operational stabilisation.
Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and performance milestones for assigned commercial initiatives.
Monitor project performance against approved business cases and recommend corrective actions where required.
Identify and evaluate new commercial opportunities within the Group’s existing network and future expansion areas (e.g. retail, advertising, utilities, digital or ancillary services).
Conduct market research, feasibility studies, and financial evaluations to support expansion proposals.
Support the preparation of business cases, investment papers, and presentations for Management and Board approval.
Liaise with internal stakeholders including Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and Engineering to ensure seamless implementation of commercial projects.
Engage external parties such as tenants, concessionaires, vendors, consultants, and strategic partners.
Support negotiations on commercial terms, contracts, and agreements in collaboration with Legal and Finance.
Track commercial revenue, costs, and profitability of assigned projects.
Prepare periodic performance reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for Management review.
Ensure commercial initiatives meet approved financial and operational targets.
Ensure all commercial projects comply with internal policies, concession agreements, regulatory requirements, and governance standards.
Identify commercial, operational, and financial risks and propose mitigation measures.
Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all commercial activities.
Recommend process improvements, new commercial models, and innovative approaches to enhance commercial outcomes.
Support the Head of Commercial in strategic planning, budgeting, and Group-wide commercial initiatives.
Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and best practices relevant to commercialisation and infrastructure-related businesses.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline
Professional qualifications (MBA, CFA, ACCA, or equivalent) will be an added advantage
Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in commercial management, business development, project management, or asset monetisation
Exposure to infrastructure, property, utilities, or regulated environments is preferred
Experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects and preparing business cases
