Analyst provides execution support for three main areas: investments, regulation, and daily operations. The work involves researching markets thoroughly, building financial models to check if investments are financially sound (stress-testing), and helping write necessary policy documents and regulatory forms which directly contributes to the overall activities of the project team to operationalize AgroVest.
Principal Accountabilities
- Build and maintain financial models for investment analysis, including cash flow projections, sensitivity analysis, and valuation assessments.
- Analyze financial data and portfolio performance to support monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
- Conduct primary and secondary research on agricultural sub-sectors to identify market trends, risks, and opportunities for the Investment Team.
- Prepare investment teasers, information memorandums, and pitch decks for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support developmental requirements of Agrobank’s overall intermediary roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure all business activities, investment structures, and operations strictly adhere to Shariah principles as endorsed by the Shariah Committee, maintaining the integrity of the Islamic financial ecosystem.
- Support the Heads of Department in drafting policies, frameworks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist in compiling and reviewing documents required for regulatory submissions to BNM and SC.
- Provide ad-hoc administrative and secretariat support as required.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, Investments or related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of working experience in asset management / alternative investments / corporate finance / family office/ financial institution/ fintech or management consulting firms.
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced Excel skills (VBA/Macros) to build dynamic 3-Statement models and DCF valuations from scratch.
- Capability to conduct primary (interviews) and secondary (DOSM/Bloomberg) research to validate investment theses.
- Proficiency in PowerBI, Tableau, or advanced PowerPoint to present data compellingly.
- Ability to read complex policy documents (FSA/CMSA) and summarize implications for the business.
- Skills in organizing Virtual Data Rooms (VDRs) and tracking diligence request lists.
- Ability to write clear, concise Investment Memos and Policy Papers with business-level English and Malay
- Sensitivity analysis: Ability to run "What-If" scenarios to stress-test business cases against market volatility.
- Solid grasp of accounting ratios, working capital cycles, and capital structure concepts.
- Organizational skills to assist the PMO with minute-taking, scheduling, and follow-ups.
- Experienced with deal sourcing, deal structuring, investment analysis, due diligence, investment monitoring, fund management and/or investment exit.
- Prior exposure in investment activities including non-alternative investments i.e. equities, fixed income, real estate would be advantageous.
- Prior exposure to risk modelling and retail credit risk would be advantageous
- Competent with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and collaboration & communication tools.
