As a Senior Backend Engineer at Grab, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that power our superapp. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that impact millions of users across Southeast Asia.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver new features and improvements.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and contribute to technical decision-making.
• Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring high availability of services.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in backend development, preferably in large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python, Node.js).
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Solid understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), caching, and message queues.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working in agile teams.
