Background
We are seeking a dynamic clinical research fellow at FY2 level or above to join an established multi-disciplinary team of clinicians and scientists for a one-year post to assist with the running of the REPROGRAM trial.
The REPROGRAM trial is a biological endpoints trial nested within an ambitious wider project funded by the Wellcome Leap. It seeks to determine biological changes within the ‘Hallmarks of Ageing’ following three weeks of a geroprotector. It will analyse this data concurrently with data from the REBOUND study – a study of biological changes in older adults following a surgical stressor – to determine whether geroprotectors could be utilised successfully in a pre-habilitation window prior to surgery. It is hoped this will lead to further funding in the form of a clinical trial.
This trial is being run through the Inflammation Research Facility at the QEHB benefiting from the close links between the University and the Trust. This is an established unit with a proven track record in successful research studies supporting hundreds of individuals to gain experience in research.
