Responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to provide supervision, mainly supporting the clinical pillar of advanced practice, however there will be opportunities to provide supervision for the research, leadership and education pillars. Advanced Practice is delivered by experienced, registered health and care practitioners. It is a level of practice characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a master's level award or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence. Advanced Practice embodies the ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers. It includes the analysis and synthesis of complex problems across a range of settings, enabling innovative solutions to enhance people's experience and improve outcomes. Support all current AP trainees undertaking Advanced Practice education and training acting as clinical supervisor and ensuring each trainee AP is familiar with the requirement of AP. Contribute to the delivery of the 'Moorfields Supervision Programme for Nurses and Allied Professionals.' Support supervisors of advanced practitioners in their personal credentialing for AP. With the educational supervisors facilitate 1:1 educational plans supporting students on AP academic programmes. Collaborate with programme leads of AP post graduate programmes to deliver AP education, including planning of student support, supervision and assessment. Promote standards of supervision that are delivered based on current evidence, best practice and, where applicable, validated research. Contribute towards developing a network for ophthalmology APs both internally and externally. Supporting the community of practice (COP) for clinical supervision. Maintain and update their own professional clinical practice and knowledge of AP.
