A recruitment agency specializing in education is looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support children with special educational needs in a primary school in Birmingham. This long-term position requires a calm, nurturing approach and confidence in delivering small group interventions. The ideal candidate will have HLTA status or equivalent and experience with Autism and Speech & Language needs. This role offers stability, with the potential for a permanent position and access to professional development training.

We're working with a welcoming primary school in the Sparkhill area that's seeking a skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs. If you're confident delivering targeted interventions and thrive in a nurturing environment, this could be your perfect fit!
You’ll work closely with pupils across the school, helping them regulate emotions, access learning, and feel secure and understood in the classroom environment.
- Deliver small group and 1:1 SEND interventions
- Work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to support EHCP targets
- Lead planned sessions and support learning activities when teachers are out of class
- Promote independence, emotional wellbeing, and inclusion
- Track progress and provide feedback to staff and parents
- HLTA status or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience supporting children with a range of SEND, particularly Autism and Speech & Language needs
- Confident leading small groups and stepping up in class teacher’s absence
- Strong communication and a calm, nurturing approach
- Able to commit to a long-term role with consistency and care
- Long-term, stable work with the potential for a permanent role.
- No day-to-day supply - full-time consistency in one school.
