Job description

Location: Children's Residential Homes - Marchburn / Kingfield

Duration: Permanent, full-time; Part-time 18.5 hours

Job Purpose:

To deliver a statutory social work service to promote and protect the welfare of vulnerable service users, their families, and carers in need of care and/or protection. Creating an environment where each service user is enabled to maximise their potential and contribute to their social, physical, and mental wellbeing, promoting active citizenship in a holistic way.

Working within our children’s residential provision, the post holder will contribute to the provision of a recovery-based ethos of care, which allows young people to feel safe and protected. As part of a skilled team, support young people whose earlier experiences of adversity have impacted their development.

Requirements

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • CQSW/Diploma in Social Work
  • SVQ Level 9 Residential Care or willingness to work towards in accordance with SSSC registration requirements
  • SSSC Registration or equivalent
  • Protection of Vulnerable Group Check (PVG)
Responsibilities

The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

  • Sound and current knowledge of theory and practice relevant to children and families
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and with a wide range of professionals to improve outcomes for children and young people
  • Ability to assess and manage risk
  • The ability to assess and communicate effectively with children and young people
  • Interviewing and investigation skills
  • Ability to support others to develop independent living skills including budgeting, wellbeing, education/learning, and employability
  • Ability to manage constant and often conflicting demands
  • Ability to make decisions and take responsibility for own practice, seeking advice and support as necessary
