Secondary Graduate Teaching Assistant - Permanent Opportunity - Southwark

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £26,000 - £29,000 per annum

A thriving and inclusive secondary school in Southwark is looking for a committed Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis from September 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are considering a career in teaching and want to gain invaluable classroom experience before progressing into training routes such as PGCE or School Direct.

As a Secondary Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide targeted academic support to students across KS3 and KS4 in your specialist subject.
• Lead one-to-one and small group interventions to boost progress and attainment.
• Support teachers in preparing engaging lessons and delivering classroom activities.
• Promote a positive learning environment by assisting with behaviour management.
• Offer tailored support to students with additional needs, including SEN and EAL.
• Contribute to extra-curricular clubs, enrichment activities, and school-wide events.

• A 2:1 or above degree from a Russell Group university (English, Maths, Science, Humanities, or Languages desirable).
• A genuine passion for secondary education and long-term interest in teaching.
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptable, enthusiastic, and resilient when supporting young learners.
• Previous experience with teenagers (tutoring, mentoring, youth projects) is an advantage.
