Female Support Worker– Sleep in Night Worker PR3

2 x 12‑Hour Sleep‑in Shifts (Mon & Tues) | 9PM – 9AM Night shift
Permanent | £16–£17 per hour for 4 awake hours + minimum wage for 8 sleep hours + £2/hour weekend uplift (awake hours only)

Are you looking to make a real difference? Join a warm, committed care team supporting a lovely young woman with complex health and learning needs in her family home. No experience needed as full training will be given. Due to personal care requirements and the wishes of the dependent and her family, this role is open to female applicants only.

We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Sleep in Night Worker to provide 2:1 care for a client with an acquired brain injury and epilepsy. You’ll be part of an experienced team delivering high‑quality, person‑centred support throughout the night. This is a permanent, part‑time role, working 2 x 12‑hour sleep‑in night shifts on Monday and Tuesday nights (9PM–9AM). You’ll be alongside another support worker (who will be completing a waking night shift), awake for approximately 4 hours during the early and late parts of the night to provide essential care and support, while sleeping for the remaining 8 hours. Due to needing 2:1 care, if the night shift support worker requires assistance, you will be required to support throughout the night. Additional night hours may become available in the future, and there is also the opportunity to cover day shifts to support the wider team during annual leave or sickness absences, offering flexibility and extra hours for the right candidate.

Please note: Sleep‑in shifts allow for rest periods; however, if the dependent requires support more than three times during the night, the shift would be reclassified as a waking night, requiring continuous awake care. Also, if a waking night carer is on annual leave or sick leave, the sleep‑in carer must cover as the waking night carer, providing vital continuity of care in a supportive team environment.

You’ll be part of a supportive, friendly team committed to delivering excellent care. This role involves physical tasks including manual handling and night work, so physical fitness and emotional resilience are important. Due to the rural location, you must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Working within a family home requires an awareness that your workplace is part of a private family environment. You are expected to demonstrate respect, discretion, and empathy at all times. You will also be working with family.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Providing close and continuous monitoring of the client throughout the night, with particular attention to seizure activity and overall wellbeing
  • Using hoisting equipment safely and confidently for all necessary transfers, which is an essential part of the role
  • Delivering personal care and repositioning as required
  • Assisting with feeding and nutrition, including the careful preparation and offering of meals tailored to the client’s needs
  • Administering medication, including medication via PEG
  • Supporting with the client’s bedtime and night routines
  • Attending to the client when she is awake, keeping her happy and comfortable, and helping to settle her back to sleep by reading to her
  • Carrying out household responsibilities, including cleaning, laundry, and maintenance of care equipment to ensure a safe and hygienic environment
  • Being alert, present, and responsive whenever the client wakes during the night
What We’re Looking For
  • No experience needed as full training will be given; however, some experience in healthcare is a plus, and full training will be provided if you bring the right attitude and values
  • A genuine passion for helping others, combined with a professional approach, honesty, and transparency in all aspects of care and communication
  • A calm, caring nature and emotional resilience suited to the physical and emotional demands of night work
  • Respectful and comfortable supporting the client’s Christian faith by reading Christian books and playing Christian music as part of her daily routine (no personal faith requirements necessary)
  • Enhanced DBS check will be required
  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle due to rural location
What We Offer

£13.48 – £17 per hour, depending on experience plus £2/hour uplift for any weekend shifts.

Pension scheme; sick pay 1 week full pay, then statutory sick pay (SSP).

Ongoing training & development, including: Acquired Brain Injury First Aid, Epilepsy Awareness, Medication Administration (including PEG), Manual Handling & Hoisting, Moving & Handling, Safeguarding, GDPR, MCA, and more.

The chance to truly make a difference in someone’s life. Ready to join a meaningful care role with real impact? Apply now and be part of a team that’s changing lives, one night at a time.

Start date TBC.
