Job description
Overview

A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

Are you an experienced Children's Emergency Nurse looking for a new challenge? Do you want to join our friendly and motivated multidisciplinary team who strive to deliver high quality emergency care to patients presenting acutely unwell with various illnesses and injuries? We are looking for experienced nurses with strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills and a passion for emergency care.

We offer tailor made education and development packages through our links with local universities and our dedicated multi-disciplinary education team. A dedicated Children's Emergency Department Educator will work alongside you in the department to support your development. In-house, university and national accredited courses are available with access to ENP and ACP programmes. Weekly MDT simulations are delivered within the department and in our training pod.

You will be required to have relevant years of experience and the clinical skills to work at a senior level within the Children’s Emergency Department. You will be expected to work in all areas of the department to maintain your clinical skills and you will be supported by the sisters/charge nurses and the senior nursing team in developing your management and leadership skills. This is a rewarding but demanding post that requires commitment and dedication to provide quality care to infants, children, young people and their families/carers from a diverse population.

Responsibilities include leading evidence-based nursing care for a group of patients, supervising others in the caring process, deputising and taking charge in the absence of the Ward/Unit Manager, contributing to high standards of quality nursing care, supporting clinical leadership and managing the ward team, improving services and the quality of care, mentoring and educating students and staff, and participating in education, development and mentorship of other staff.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients and partners, is our compass for 2023-2030. Our four primary goals are high-quality care for all, a great place to work, partnerships for impact, and research and education excellence. We will embed health equality in all we do, reducing avoidable differences in healthcare by working with communities. Our values are: compassionate, proud, inclusive, and one team.

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our efforts to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
