A highly regarded national law firm is seeking dedicated a Solicitor Advocate or Barrister to join its Police Team.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex and impactful cases while providing the flexibility of remote working, with regular court attendance required in Brighton and surrounding areas.
You'll be joining one of the largest Regulatory departments in the country with a stellar reputation for providing expert legal advice across a broad range of sectors, including health, the public sector, corporations, and individuals.
This role is predominantly advocacy-based, requiring regular attendance at Magistrates' courts in Sussex. hilts Brighton is a key location, hearings may also be scheduled in Surrey and sometimes further afield.
Your role will be to manage a caseload of approximately 100 civil protective order applications in the Magistrates' Court, including; Domestic Violence Protection Orders; Stalking Protection Orders; Sexual Harm Prevention Orders; Sexual Risk Orders; Anti-Social Behaviour Injunctions and Closure Orders.
You will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a strong interest in regulatory and police law. Also with :
- Experience drafting and presenting cases in court
- Strong advocacy skills or a willingness to develop them
- Strong communication and IT proficiency
- A flexible approach, with a willingness to travel for court hearings
- Experience of advocacy in the Magistrates' Court
- Experience advising and acting on behalf of police forces would be highly desirable
