A highly regarded national law firm is seeking dedicated a Solicitor Advocate or Barrister to join its Police Team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex and impactful cases while providing the flexibility of remote working, with regular court attendance required in Brighton and surrounding areas.

The Role:

You'll be joining one of the largest Regulatory departments in the country with a stellar reputation for providing expert legal advice across a broad range of sectors, including health, the public sector, corporations, and individuals.

This role is predominantly advocacy-based, requiring regular attendance at Magistrates' courts in Sussex. hilts Brighton is a key location, hearings may also be scheduled in Surrey and sometimes further afield.

Your role will be to manage a caseload of approximately 100 civil protective order applications in the Magistrates' Court, including; Domestic Violence Protection Orders; Stalking Protection Orders; Sexual Harm Prevention Orders; Sexual Risk Orders; Anti-Social Behaviour Injunctions and Closure Orders.

The Candidate:

You will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a strong interest in regulatory and police law. Also with :

  • Experience drafting and presenting cases in court
  • Strong advocacy skills or a willingness to develop them
  • Strong communication and IT proficiency
  • A flexible approach, with a willingness to travel for court hearings
  • Experience of advocacy in the Magistrates' Court
  • Experience advising and acting on behalf of police forces would be highly desirable
