We have a new opportunity for a Species Survival Fund Community Officer until 28 February 2026.
We are looking for someone who is passionate and enthusiastic about working with volunteers and local communities who also have knowledge of the value of coastal grasslands and their habitats.
Coastal Grasslands Reconnected is funded by the Government's Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency. The total project budget is £1,075,000.
Durham Heritage Coast Partnership, through Durham County Council, is managing the project on behalf of the wider partnership including Durham Wildlife Trust and the National Trust.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You will lead on community engagement and monitoring of habitats for the Coastal Grassland Reconnected project.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
You should have a degree (or an equivalent qualification) in natural sciences, ecology, engagement, countryside management or a related field OR have significant experience in a similar role.
You will have significant experience of working with local communities and volunteers and demonstrable experience in project delivery.

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply.
