A local council in the United Kingdom is looking for a Maintenance Surveyor to inspect homes and order repair works, ensuring compliance with housing standards. This permanent position offers a salary between £31,022 to £33,699 per annum and allows for predominantly home-based working while requiring some attendance at sites. The ideal candidate should possess relevant qualifications or substantial experience in the building trade, along with excellent communication and negotiation skills. Additional benefits include travel cost coverage for office visits.

Working in the Asset Management team of Housing Services, the main purpose of this role is to inspect homes and land and order repair and void works using a designated schedule of rates or seeking appropriate quotations and agreeing variations to orders with the Council’s contractors.
Other responsibilities will include:
Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential as you liaise with customers, clients and contractors to ensure work is undertaken and completed satisfactorily and on a timely basis whilst ensuring that the Council, its tenants and leaseholders are receiving value for money and a customer focussed service.
Candidates must have a relevant qualification in a trade related discipline such as a HNC Building Studies, NVQ L2 or C&G, or significant experience in a relevant building trade.
Knowledge of housing repair standards and legislation e.g. Right to Repair, Decent Homes Standard/HHSRS and experience of using a Schedule of Rates and software-based systems to raise or manage works orders would be hugely beneficial.
The intention is for the postholder to work predominately from home however, it is a requirement to attend our offices or sites within Warwick District as required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate. However, hybrid and office working is also available.
