A training organisation in the UK seeks an External Quality Assurer (EQA) to ensure compliance and drive improvement across training centres. The role involves managing audits, providing guidance to training providers, and fostering high standards. Ideal candidates will have a recognized EQA or IQA qualification and experience in vocational education. The position offers home-based flexibility with travel to various centres and a company pension scheme.

Assure compliance, support centres and drive continuous improvement by becoming an External Quality Assurer within EUSR, the sector's register of skills and industry recognised training programmes.
Recently established, Energy & Environment Awards is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Energy & Utility Skills Group and an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation. With a focus on the energy and utilities sector, we deliver apprenticeship end point assessments, regulated qualifications, and EUSR – the sector’s register of skills and industry recognised training programmes.
These services are essential to ensuring that the workforce across the energy, water and waste management and other vital sectors has the technical competence and confidence to operate safely, efficiently and sustainably.
In EUSR, we provide the Register of training and skills for the Utilities sector by developing and assuring training programmes and assessments. Through rigorous quality assurance processes with a focus on safety, we provide peace of mind that our industry-wide programmes meet employer needs.
Our dedicated Quality Assurance team oversees approvals and ongoing monitoring of all our training providers and trainers delivering our schemes, ensuring the outcomes are reliable and consistent.
As an External Quality Assurer (EQA), you will be centre-facing, working directly with our Approved Providers and Trainers to ensure compliance with our approval criteria at both centre and training programme level. You will carry out approvals and audits in line with internal quality assurance processes, assigning risk ratings, keeping accurate records, and producing detailed and professional reports.
This is also a relationship-focused role. You will provide information, advice and guidance before and after approval, helping centres to understand and meet requirements, and supporting them in creating action or improvement plans where needed. By sharing best practice and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement, you will ensure that high standards are maintained across all centres.
The role offers variety and influence. You will have the opportunity to identify and promote additional schemes or endorsed programmes that could benefit centres, while also feeding back intelligence to improve our own schemes, processes, and policies. Representing the Quality Assurance team at provider networks, trainer approval workshops, and events, you will work collaboratively across Registration Services and with other internal teams such as Product Management, Client Management, Sales and Marketing, ensuring our schemes and services remain fit for purpose.
You will bring recent experience within the vocational education or training sector, ideally as an External Quality Assurer with an awarding or professional body, or as an Internal Quality Assurer within a training provider or college.
You will hold a recognised qualification in EQA or IQA and have demonstrable experience of managing or carrying out training-related audits. Additional training or teaching qualifications would be an advantage.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. You will be confident in establishing positive relationships with centres, writing clear and persuasive approval, audit and monitoring reports, and presenting information in a professional and engaging way.
You will be highly organised, able to plan ahead while adapting to changing circumstances, and comfortable working under your own initiative.
As much of our data is held within Quartz, you will need excellent IT skills and proven experience of using systems such as Microsoft Office and learner registration platforms. Experience of working directly with Quartz would be desirable.
Above all, you will be proactive, collaborative, and motivated to uphold the highest standards of quality assurance, while adding real value for the centres you support.
