Ward Registered Nurse

Weymouth Street Hospital, part of Phoenix Hospital Group, are seeking a skilled and compassionate Ward Registered Nurse to deliver exceptional patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic, patient focused environment, supporting surgical admissions with a particular focus on cosmetic procedures, diagnostics and post-operative care.

Reporting to the Ward Manager, as the successful Ward Registered Nurse, you will provide high standards of clinical care, promote patient safety and well-being, and support ward leadership in the day-to-day management of the hospital. You will mentor and guide junior staff and healthcare assistants, and participate in creating a positive and professional team environment.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week Mon-‑Sun

Main Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using an evidence-based approach.
  • Support the Ward Manager in achieving operational goals and hospital business plans.
  • Act as a positive role model and provide guidance to junior staff and HCAs.
  • Participate in ward audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities.
  • Deliver post-operative care, including dressings, blood samples, and patient monitoring.
  • Coordinate patient appointments, radiology tests, and chaperoning as required.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with hospital policies.
  • Respond to patient concerns, escalating issues where necessary.
  • Support a safe and professional ward environment, adhering to Health & Safety, infection control, and safeguarding policies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, revalidation, and mentoring opportunities
Skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills and competency of required clinical practice. Phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, and intravenous antibiotics would be an advantage.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business.
  • Experience in computer skills using MS Office Suite and web based reporting systems.
  • Comprehensive written, numerical and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding principles.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with NMC
  • At least 2 years post-qualification experience.
  • Proven strong clinical skills and knowledge of patient-centred care.
Experience
  • Experience working within a ward environment
  • Private healthcare experience desired.
  • Experience in mentoring or supporting junior staff.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
