The company serves a range of heavy industries including marine, power generation, oil & gas, and industrial machinery. Known for their precision engineering and commitment to quality, they are looking for a skilled Quality Manager to lead their quality assurance efforts and support ongoing improvement across the business.
The Role:
This is a hands-on Quality Manager position with responsibility for overseeing and developing the company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System. You'll play a key role in maintaining product and process quality while driving compliance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will also be expected to have an awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental standards, contributing to a culture of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the ISO 9001:2015 QMS
- Plan and conduct internal and external quality audits
- Manage document control and ensure up-to-date quality procedures are followed
- Investigate non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to uphold product quality standards
- Oversee calibration and control of inspection and measuring equipment
- Monitor and report on key quality metrics and performance indicators
- Champion continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methods
- Conduct supplier evaluations and manage supplier-related quality issues
- Promote quality awareness across the organisation through training and engagement
- Support site compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental practices
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Engineer role in a manufacturing setting
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and quality system implementation
- Background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
- Familiarity with rotating equipment and/or white metal bearings is highly advantageous
- Good understanding of HSE practices within an industrial environment
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
- Experience with quality tools such as FMEA, APQP, PPAP, and SPC preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of the business
- Internal or Lead Auditor qualification is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems software
