A leading UK healthcare provider is seeking a Head of Efficiency and Clinical Productivity to lead initiatives aimed at improving productivity and financial sustainability. The Efficiency and Clinical Productivity team supports the achievement of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust’s group-wide goals and governing objectives through the delivery of a portfolio of major programme and change activity. The team drives the group-wide efficiency and clinical productivity programme to ensure the financial sustainability of the Trust.
RFL Group agreed its Medium-Term Financial Plan (MTFP) in January 2024 setting out a plan to deliver financial sustainability over the next three years. The Efficiency and Clinical Productivity team supports this through a focus on improving productivity and sustainability through core activities such as FIP delivery and efficiency plans, and the successful delivery of major change programmes that will deliver multi‑year productivity improvement.
The Head of Efficiency and Clinical Productivity role supports the delivery of this portfolio of work through leading a business‑partnering team aligned to one of the Group’s Health Units with responsibility for delivering cross‑cutting group‑wide programmes. The role will develop the local and strategic relationships required to enable health units to drive the integrated development of efficiency and productivity opportunities and their delivery.

As Head of Efficiency and Clinical Productivity you will have a high level of autonomy, self‑drive, and will be able to manage multiple priorities and provide direction to teams to achieve the plan set out. You will need to demonstrate effective leadership skills, not only in working with a range of stakeholders to deliver change but in leading a business‑partnering team. Technically competent in driving change, project and programme management, you will need to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills so you can work effectively with multiple groups of stakeholders across the organisation.
The role requires you to drive a complex, cross‑cutting agenda and provide significant challenge and support to drive forward the improving value agenda and in ensuring the Trust meets its financial and productivity goals. You will be an ambassador for improvement and model the integrity, patient‑focused, and value‑for‑money behaviours essential to sustainable improvement.
The role will lead a team to identify and test opportunities, develop delivery plans, and provide project management for more complex skills as well as leading and supporting cross‑cutting group‑wide programmes of work. This post will be allocated to support the NMUH Health Unit.
