Job Summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is delivering one of the most ambitious hospital redevelopment programmes in the NHS and we have a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and motivated SACH Redevelopment Programme Manager (Band 7) to join our Redevelopment Team.

Based at St Albans City Hospital (SACH) with travel to other sites, you will play a key role in coordinating programme activities, managing procurement and financial processes and supporting project planning and reporting.

Main Duties

The SACH Programme Manager will undertake a range of duties in the Redevelopment Programme team including programme management of schemes arising from the SACH redevelopment programme, leading projects on behalf of the Redevelopment team and coordinating input from workstream leads. You will produce timely minutes of meetings, reports and dashboards for project boards, keep milestone schedules and programme structures up to date, and administer risk, change and decision‑making logs.

Responsibilities
  • Work with external Project Managers to develop robust reporting and programming schedules to align with the monthly governance cycles.
  • Use formal programme management methodologies to manage the programmes, including change, risk and programme reports, benefits realisation and post‑implementation lessons learned.
  • Act as a focal point for communication for project stakeholders, including clinical colleagues, AEs and APs, Infection Control, ICT, Estates and Facilities.
  • Ensure appropriate governance and that reports are produced in accordance with agreed templates and formats, and issues of non‑conformance are escalated appropriately.
  • Monitor budgets and project spend against plan; produce exception reports when projects move outside tolerance.
  • Work closely with Consultants, Contractors and other external advisors to deliver successful programmes with professionalism and care.
  • Coordinate input from workstream leads and translate this into production of minutes, reports, dashboards, milestone schedules and programme structures.
  • Administer risk, change and decision‑making logs, ensuring they are up‑to‑date and reflective of programme status.

  • Education and qualifications (Essential)
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or relevant previous experience in a programme/project management office and successful delivery

    • PRINCE2 practitioner, or equivalent project management qualification
