A charitable organization in London seeks a Group Support Volunteer to engage with people affected by dementia. The role involves welcoming attendees, facilitating activities, and ensuring a comfortable environment at a weekly Dementia Cafe. Ideal candidates will have good communication and empathy skills, and a willingness to learn about dementia. Volunteers must be over 16 years old and will play a crucial role in fostering community support.
If you love meeting new people and want to support people affected by dementia in your area, then we may have just the volunteer role for you!
As a Group Support Volunteer, you’ll support and encourage people affected by dementia to engage in activities and socialise with others in a group setting. A friendly face at the group, you’ll welcome and talk to people affected by dementia to help them feel comfortable and make sure they’re offered refreshments. You’ll also help set up and tidy away at the end of the group.
Your involvement in this role will ensure people affected by dementia are able to meet others in a similar situation, access the support and information they need and enjoy meaningful activities.
This role is to support at our Dementia Cafe which meets weekly on Mondays from 9.30am-12pm at Raynes Park Library, Bradbury Court, 21 Approach Road, Raynes Park, London SW20 8RA.

Alzheimer’s Society is here for everyone affected by dementia.
By 2025, an estimated 1 million people will be living with the condition in the UK, and many millions more carers, partners, families and friends will be affected.
Dementia is a complex condition, and there’s no one-size fits all solution but until we find a cure, our aim is to transform lives today.
We do this by:
Equal opportunities
Alzheimer’s Society is committed to equal opportunities. Alzheimer’s Society embraces diversity, inclusion and accessibility for all of our people. We are committed to building a diverse organisation that represents the communities we serve and ensuring inclusion in everything we do. We will look at making reasonable adjustments for people who have a disability or long-term condition.
