A family living in Paris is seeking a credentialed Academic Tutor (ADHD and Behavioral Challenges Specialist). This is a part-time position, and the candidate should be flexible to accommodate family and school schedules.

The Credentialed Academic Tutor specializes in providing tailored academic and behavioral support to a unique set of grade-school triplets, one of whom has been diagnosed with ADHD and exhibits associated behavioral challenges. This role requires a deep understanding of neurodiversity, child development, and evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies. The tutor will collaborate closely with the children, their parents, teachers, and potentially other specialists to create and implement Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) that foster academic success, social-emotional well-being, and positive behavioral development for each child, with a particular focus on the unique needs of the child with ADHD.

● Individualized Instruction: Deliver one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions across core academic subjects (Math, Reading, Writing, etc.), adapting teaching methods, materials, and pacing to suit each child's learning style, strengths, and challenges.

● Personalized Learning Plans: Conduct comprehensive assessments, including standardized tests, observations, and interviews, to identify each child's academic and behavioral baseline, learning profile, and areas for growth. Develop and implement Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) that incorporate evidence-based strategies for ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and behavior support.

● Behavior Management: Utilize positive behavior support (PBS) techniques, including antecedent strategies, reinforcement systems, and self-regulation skill development, to create a structured, predictable, and supportive learning environment. Proactively address challenging behaviors and teach replacement behaviors that promote positive engagement and social interaction.

● Executive Functioning Support: Explicitly teach and scaffold executive functioning skills (planning, organization, time management, working memory, etc.) through modeling, direct instruction, and the use of visual supports, checklists, and assistive technology.

● Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess each child's academic and behavioral progress using data collection tools and observation. Adjust ILPs and interventions as neededbased on data-driven decision-making. Communicate progress effectively with parents and teachers, providing detailed reports and actionable recommendations.

● Collaboration: Establish and maintain open communication with parents, teachers, therapists, and other professionals involved in the children's care. Participate in team meetings, share insights and strategies, and coordinate services to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive support system.

● Professional Development: Stay abreast of current research and best practices in ADHD, executive functioning, behavior interventions, and inclusive education. Participate in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

● Advocacy: Advocate for the educational rights and needs of all three children, particularly the child with ADHD. Promote understanding and acceptance of neurodiversity within the family and school community.

● Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the children's personal, academic, and behavioral information.

● Experience with assistive technology and adaptive learning tools.

● Familiarity with curriculum development and differentiated instruction.

● Bilingual or multilingual abilities.

● Experience working with multiple children within a family system.

● Education: Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field with a specialization in ADHD, Learning Disabilities, or Behavioral Interventions.

● Certification: Relevant teaching certification or credential (e.g., Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Certified Academic Language Therapist).

● Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children with ADHD and/or executive functioning challenges in educational or therapeutic settings. Experience with differentiated instruction and small group teaching is highly desirable.

● First Aid/CPR Certification: Current First Aid and CPR certification.

● Expertise in evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies for ADHD, executive functioning, and related challenges.

● Strong understanding of child development, learning theories, neurodiversity, and the impact of ADHD on academic and social-emotional functioning.

● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

● Ability to build rapport with children and families from diverse backgrounds.

● Patience, empathy, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

• 45-60 Euro per hour - depending on level of experience
