What will you be doing!
  • Project Management:
    • Managing and supporting a team of Project Control Coordinators involved in developing and managing the project schedule, recognizing the required time frame and the available budget and resources.
    • Demonstrating advanced project planning competency and guiding others through the multiple stages of a project.
    • Reviewing commercial contracts and providing comments related to project schedule and cost implications.
    • Providing project controls knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques required to meet Program Management Office (PMO) needs and expectations.
    • Offering guidance for managing project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, resources, communications, and risk.
    • Analyzing project cost and schedule performance, identifying variances, monitoring trends, capturing lessons learned, and recommending corrective actions.
    • Supporting project teams by providing project planning expertise.
    • Acting as a subject matter expert on Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), cost management, schedule management, and risk management.
    • Leading the implementation of core planning and control processes (WBS, cost estimating, cost control, scheduling, earned value management, reporting, etc.), training staff, and monitoring usage and compliance.
    • Overseeing the development of schedule, resource, and cost plans using project management techniques to enable integrated cost and schedule control.
    • Monitoring progress across assigned program work and supplying management with actionable information to support program needs.
    • Directing and supporting the production of project/program reports and presentations.
    • Facilitating the development of “what-if” scenarios and remedial action plans, including analysis and integrated outputs for informed decision-making.
    • Supporting and directing ad hoc reporting on various aspects of work, resources, and cost plans.
    • Coordinating monthly reporting for projects/programs.
    • Coordinating reporting across other projects/programs.
    • Participating in internal and external audits and following up on resulting recommendations.
    • Organizing, prioritizing, and supervising project/program work, providing guidance aligned with program/PMO objectives.
    • Serving as an interface between project parties (e.g., Lead Suppliers, Work Management, Radiation Protection, Finance, etc.) during all project phases.
    • Ensuring the quality of project controls output in alignment with PMO requirements and industry standards.
    • Recommending and coaching on procedural compliance, accuracy, and completeness.
    • Assisting struggling projects by troubleshooting issues and developing practical solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement/Innovation:
    • Identifying and recommending improvements to procedures impacting the work area.
    • Participating in employee performance reviews and developing training plans to enhance and maintain staff skills.
    • Collaborating on changes to work procedures by applying innovative methods.
    • Recommending policy enhancements.
    • Encouraging and supporting innovation among team members.
  • Risks/Opportunities:
    • Responding to situations by containing or mitigating short-term risks according to established procedures and guidelines.
    • Minimizing risks associated with errors in judgment by implementing appropriate checks and balances.
    • Adhering to emergency response processes and maintaining health and safety standards.
    • Ensuring team-wide awareness of emergency response protocols and compliance with safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
  • Education:
    • University degree or college diploma from an accredited school in a field relevant to Project Management, Engineering, Economics or Business Administration.
    • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 5 – 10 years of increasing responsibility and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and project delivery experience; and
    • 2 – 5 years of leadership and/or supervisory experience, or the ability to motivate others to perform to expectations, would be an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Organizational and planning skills, with the ability to establish priorities, define action plans, set and meet deadlines and monitor performance.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent presentation / instructional / coaching skills.
    • Effective team leadership and team-building skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team with strong interpersonal and networking skills essential to build relationships and work effectively with staff at various levels of the organization.
    • Questioning attitude with the ability to challenge assumptions and plans others propose objectively and professionally, while using reliable sources to verify conditions, assess risks, etc.
    • Effective and innovative problem solver with results-oriented approach and ability to motivate and expedite others.
    • Flexible and multi-task oriented.
    • Ability to motivate others to perform to expectations.
    • Highly self-motivated with a positive attitude, willing to learn new skills, share experiences and take on roles of increasing responsibility.
    • Ability to prepare and manage project schedules.
    • Ability to conduct effective meetings to discuss and resolve scheduling issues.
    • Ability to resolve personnel issues and foster a cooperative working environment.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required:
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
