A non-profit community service organization in Drumheller seeks a Community and Family Services Manager to oversee client programs and community outreach. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in community services, and the ability to manage volunteers effectively. This full-time role offers a salary range of CAD 54,814.39 to CAD 68,517.99.

The Community and Family Services Manager will provide supervision and support to the Community and Family Services in various programs related to community and client support in accordance with Salvation Army mission, values, and standards.
Provide direction, support and team leadership to the Family Services Worker including PEAC Reviews and the duties as identified within the worker’s job description.
Attend regular planning meetings with the Officers and Office Admin as part of the leadership team.
Coordinate food bank operations – ordering and/or receipt of food donations, recording, general cleanliness; and organization including a first in - first out inventory control system to minimize product waste.
Give oversight to food hamper content as required, adjusting where necessary.
Give oversight into the conducting of client intakes, assessing their needs and determining how we can best assist them; provide budgeting guidance to clients as required.
Be available to listen to clients, providing sound advice where applicable. Offer prayer, or refer the client to the Corps Officer.
Assist the Corps Officer with ongoing strategic planning to ensure programming reflects client need as these may evolve in our changing socioeconomic climate.
Oversee Pathway of Hope (POH) programming, or in the absence of a formal program, ensure that POH principles are applied wherever applicable within our client base.
Coordinate/organize/develop ongoing and seasonal programs such as Christmas Hampers, Toy Distribution, Summer Camps, Community Dinners, Sally’s Café, Birthday Gifts and other programs as required.
Coordinate/organize/develop annual/seasonal donation and fund-raising efforts such as: Christmas Kettle Campaign, Red Bag Food Drive, Stuff the Bus, Camp BBQ, and other community outreach programs.
Work with the Corps Officer to ensure that programs (including program reviews, inspections, and audits) meet contractual, legal and internal requirements.
Responsible for the creation, ongoing review, and application of policies and procedures related to Family Services.
Establish and maintain positive relations with Food Banks Alberta overseeing the acquisition of purchased and donated products while meeting or exceeding accreditation standards.
Position may involve participation during chapel services and Celebrate Recovery program.
Give oversight to the maintenance of accurate records of client information on The Salvation Army’s computer system while maintaining confidentiality and providing statistical reports.
Maintain accurate written records, logs of activities, including activity reports and statistical information.
May prepare and submit grant/funding applications; complete timely, accurate reports as required.
Receive, record, secure monetary and non-monetary donations; ensure information is forwarded to the Office Admin for the issuing of donation receipts for income tax purposes.
Network with Salvation Army, government and community social services providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients and program.
Represent The Salvation Army Drumheller Community and Family Services within the community, as directed, always being mindful of Public Relations principles.
Maintain and seek new community relations that enhance services received by our clients including those provided through corporate and private donors.
Ensure that all donors and service providers are properly recognized for their contribution.
May be required to attend Inter-Agency and other community related meeting.
Provide direction and support to Community and Family Services volunteers and ensure that they work together to achieve the purposes of the organization.
Responsible for coordinating, reviewing, and assigning a weekly workload for all Community and Family Services volunteers.
Submit strategies and recommendations for volunteer development to Corps Officer.
Monitor volunteer safety practices in compliance with health and safety standards, and prepare, submit, and act on incident reports, under the authority of the corps officer; providing calm intervention, as required.
Organize a formal volunteer recognition event at a minimum of once per year.
Identify training needs for FS volunteers while ensuring that all volunteers meet minimum screening standards, including vulnerable sector checks where required.
Monitor staff and volunteer safety practices in compliance with health and safety standards, and prepare, submit, and act on incident reports; provide calming intervention as required ensuring the safety of everyone.
Responsible for compliance with the Alberta Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
May perform workplace inspections as required.
Assist in the orientation of new staff and volunteers regarding health and safety procedures.
Responsible to report any serious health and safety infractions or problems in accordance with policies to the Corps Officer.
Ensure the Community and Family Services Department is cleaned regularly according to acceptable health standards, and that physical property is maintained, arranging for repairs as necessary.
Report any safety hazards, maintenance problems, equipment, or supply needs to the Corps Officer.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week.
The working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
Occasional travel required to various communities/locations to provide assistances or outreach programs.
Position will require directing offenders who are on Work Release from the minimum-security section of Drumheller Institution.
Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Completion of a formal college or university program or degree of 3 academic years in a related field.
Ability to provide or willingness to obtain a First Aid/CPR Certification, WHMIS and Food Safe Handling Certifications.
Provide an acceptable Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector check upon hiring.
Minimum 3 years of prior related supervisory/team lead experience, including experience working with children and youth and experience in community and social services programs.
Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
Proven ability to manage, coach, and motivate.
Knowledge of community-based resources and experience networking with government and social service agencies.
Understanding for individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
Experience in Life Skill courses would enhance new program offerings.
Strong understanding of community development and a demonstrated ability to create and foster strong relationships with community partners resulting in mutually beneficial collaboration.
Knowledge of community-based resources, Salvation Army programs and resources and experience networking with government and social service agencies.
Committed to service excellence with a base knowledge of human resource management, and leadership principles as they relate to non-profit organizations; able to lead, coach, inspire, and motivate team to reach their full potential, thus enhancing organizational effectiveness.

The target hiring range for this position is $54,814.39 to $68,517.99 with a maximum of $82,221.59.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
