Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise the ongoing provision of quality designated programming and services, ensuring that established standards for program/shelter service delivery are met through adequate staffing and availability of appropriate supplies.
- Assist with leading the assigned portfolio to ensure successful outcomes for clients and respond to crises as required.
- Supervise Program Staff and Students (Childcare, Housing, Outreach, and Shelter Support as assigned) through various performance management processes and maintain communication systems that promote collaborative working relationships.
- Evaluate and implement training development plans, maintain staff and program schedules, and report staff hours worked to the finance department for bi-weekly payroll.
- Supervise Volunteers and Students, ensuring they receive an orientation, direction, and guidance to provide positive and enriching experiences for them and the clients at the Red Door and to support them in achieving their learning objectives. Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator in matching and placing volunteers as required.
- Serve on call (rotated among managers) when required.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's (or university) degree or Diploma in social sciences, community psychology, counselling, health, or a related field, coupled with experience in supporting clients experiencing homelessness.
- A minimum of 2–3 years of managing programs and supervising staff within a unionized setting.
- Ability to work with compassion, trauma-informed, social justice and within anti-racism and anti-oppression frameworks; skilled in addressing the complex needs of clients with compassion and a deep understanding of trauma on individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience and training in supporting clients with mental health and substance use issues from a recovery and harm reduction approach.
- Strong people‑management skills and the ability to effectively manage and support staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; sensitive to others, an active listener, and non‑judgmental.
- Sound judgment and excellent problem‑solving/crisis‑management skills; good decision‑making and conflict‑management abilities; strong administrative skills and high level of attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work a changing 24/7 environment, deadlines, and supporting client needs.
- Comfortable using technology and adapting to new systems; working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and database software.
- Ability to learn on the job and apply new processes and procedures.
Employment Details
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Schedule: Thursday, Friday & Monday: 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm; Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm & 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm (rotating shifts)
On-Call Responsibilities: Scheduled based on rotation among program managers.
Salary: $78,075.90 – $85,315.64 per year (negotiable based on experience) plus on-call compensation.
