Job Summary:
As a supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising laundry operations and providing leadership to a team of aides. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the smooth operation of three separate laundry facilities located at different sites in Sioux Lookout. You will work collaboratively with other departments to meet the laundry needs of SLFNHA.
Qualifications:
•Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
•Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
•High school diploma completion or education/experience deemed acceptable to SLFNHA.
•Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Laundry, preferably in a healthcare setting.
•Experience with supervising and scheduling teams would be preferred.
•Must be available for all rotational shifts of the position. Shifts include early morning, days, evenings and Stand-By/Call-Back.
•Ability to handle and resolve conflicts or issues that may arise within the team or with clients.•Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and standards
•Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively coordinate laundry operations and meet deadlines.
•Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and documentation purposes.
•Must be certified with Basic First Aid/CPR/AED, or able to obtain.
•The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Supervise and coordinate the activities of Aides – Environmental Services (Laundry) to ensure efficient and effective operations.
•Maintain an accurate and efficient scheduling system that covers various shifts and locations within the Laundry Department.
•Report workplace injuries and complete WSIB documentation, ensure the department follows all Health and Safety legislation and internal policies and procedures.
•Ensure all incident reports are documented, ensure that all relevant parties are informed, and the Serious Occurrence Incident Report (SOIR) system is updated.
•Oversee the laundry departments across all locations.
•Monitor supplies and equipment inventory levels and place orders to maintain an adequate supply of necessary items.
•Ensure all washers and dryers are in good working condition and create a maintenance ticket as required. Make recommendations regarding new equipment as needed to the Associate Director.
•Train, educate, and orient Aides – Environmental Services (Laundry) on laundry and safety procedures.
•To be flexible in the job routine and adapt to new requests and ongoing challenges of the job.
•Address any issues or concerns raised by clients regarding their laundry requirements.
•Maintain accurate records and documentation related to laundry services.
•Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that promotes productivity and high-quality work.
•Assist in the hiring of Aides, Environmental Services (Laundry), complete and conduct performance appraisals, disciplinary meetings, and complete all Human Resources documentation as required.
•Available to fill in for the departmental staff when necessary.
•Oversee and monitor quality improvement projects and audits resulting from recommendations of reviews and/or consultations from past, present and future.
•Collaborate with the training department to provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
•Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor and management team.
Working Conditions
•It will involve exposure to heat, cold, and various laundry equipment.
•It will require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
•Considerable standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending and lifting.
