We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team:

Location: West Carleton Secondary School (3088 Dunrobin Rd)

Position Status: 50% Term Assignment to January 1, 2027

Work Year: 10.5 months work year

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 11:30 am, 17.5 hours per week

Affiliation: OSSTF District 25 – Educational Support Professionals (ESP)

Salary Rate: $27.22 to $33.67 per hour (Level 5)

Effective: January 5, 2026

Under the direction of the Principal or designate, the Library Technician will provide technical and public services and perform other duties related to library operations such as organizing, maintaining, selecting, ordering, circulating print and non‑print materials, providing reference services, researching and preparing support materials for units of study, and performing public relations, supervisory and clerical activities.

• Diploma in Library and Information Technician, and 1 to 2 years of library experience.
• Understanding of cataloguing and classification systems.
• Research skills required.
• Proficiency in computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets and databases), ability to perform internet searches and use research tools.
• Experience operating and maintaining library software.
• Organizational skills required to schedule classes/small groups and prioritize concurrent tasks and deadlines.
• Interpersonal and communication skills required, including writing communication skills.
• The ability to use tact, judgment and diplomacy when dealing with staff, students, parents/volunteers.
• The ability to work in both English and French is an asset.

In accordance with the collective agreement, a newly hired regular employee is not eligible to accept another position (i.e. move positions) for a period of six (6) months.
