Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, the School Lunch Association, is seeking to fill a Human Resources Manager to join their team in St. John's, NL. The School Lunch Association believes every child deserves the chance to learn, grow and reach their potential—starting with a hot, nutritious lunch each school day. Since 1989 they have been providing that service to schools across our province and their core mission is simple: feed children, fuel learning and build brighter futures. A nutritious lunch today means a promising tomorrow! They currently serve 46 schools across the province and provide over 7,100 hot nutritious meals every school day. They are seeking an HR Manager to join their team and provide human resources services and business support for their registered charity organization.

Position Summary

The HR Manager will manage the day-to-day Human Resources and business objectives for the School Lunch Association and its 100+ employees, throughout over 40 locations in the province. This role requires a full understanding of HR aspects, policies and procedures as well as people-management skills. It requires a strong understanding of tracking time off, disciplinary issues, recruitment & hiring, employee relations and/or performance and daily objectives and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment & Hiring: Manage the entire hiring process from writing job descriptions to advertising and interviewing and onboarding new employees.
  • Employee Relations: Handling employee grievances, conducting investigations, managing conflict resolution, and leading disciplinary procedures.
  • Training & Development: Creating and implementing training programs and career development initiatives.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Administering payroll, benefits, and leave, and conducting salary budget analysis.
  • Performance Management: Developing and managing systems for performance evaluations and tracking.
  • Compliance: Ensuring the organization adheres to all relevant labour laws and regulations.
  • Policy & Strategy: Developing and implementing HR policies and procedures and aligning HR strategies with overall business goals.
  • Employee Engagement: Creating and implementing programs to foster a positive workplace culture and increase employee retention.
Qualifications
  • College degree in Human Resources or relevant field coupled with progressive experience in HR.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR Management practices.
  • Experience working with registered charity organization is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of and/or experience administering core HR tasks like recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, storing employee data and addressing complaints.
  • Previous management and/or leadership experiences.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of Canadian labour laws and regulations.
