SUMMARY

The TFMS Senior Interior Designer is part of a team delivering Space Layout & Interior Design, Functional Space Planning, and Furniture Procurement Support services. They develop design concepts, strategic occupancy plans & forecasts based on client needs, considering factors such as cost, budget, timelines, environment, structural impact, and limitations. The work must meet client specifications and be delivered within budget and timelines, including information gathering, needs analysis, stacking, blocking, preliminary planning, and design brief development. Options are developed for annual planning and in response to client on-demand needs. The Senior Interior Designer collaborates with internal BGIS staff, clients, and external consultants to ensure timely, successful project delivery.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Delivery - Functional Planning Services

• Supports the Sr Workplace Strategist and studio members in information gathering and functional planning, including workshops and analysis.
• Develops functional programming documents with findings and recommendations.
• Creates stacking and blocking plans, detailed space requirement workbooks.
• Prepares room data sheets for typical and special purpose spaces.
• Participates in needs analysis and requirements documentation.
• Applies workplace programs to meet client requirements.

Service Delivery - Space Layout & Interior Design Services

• Translates functional program information into space layouts in AutoCAD.
• Develops interior design and furniture concepts, including material/finish research.
• Prepares digital presentations to communicate design concepts and options.
• Creates 3D renderings, drawings, models, and schemes using CAD software.
• Performs site verification, measurements, and inventory assessments.
• Provides space planning services, including reconfigurations and minor modifications.
• Leads complex design projects and guides junior designers as needed.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory, environmental, health, and safety standards.
• Incorporates sustainable practices into projects where practical.
• Conducts technical assessments to support strategic planning.

Service Delivery - Furniture Procurement Support

• Develops detailed furniture specifications and procurement documentation.
• Communicates solutions and gathers client feedback.
• Creates workpoint typicals and 3D models to communicate requirements.
• Supports tender documentation and finalizes orders post-tender.
• Assists with furniture delivery and installation coordination.

Project Management Support

• Manages tasks effectively, reports delays or issues.
• Assists with task coordination and project reporting.
• Reports progress regularly to project leads.

Relationship Management

• Maintains relationships with client representatives and stakeholders.
• Ensures positive relations and client satisfaction.
• Develops internal relationships to support integrated service delivery.
• Mentors junior team members.
• Maintains industry relationships.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• 7+ years in interior design, delivering projects.
• Excellent AutoCAD skills; experience with 3D modeling and rendering.
• Proficient in MS Office, Bluebeam, and collaboration tools.
• Knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, LEED, WELL, etc.
• Creative problem-solving and client-focused design solutions.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

• NCIDQ Certification.
• BAID degree from a CIDA-accredited institution or equivalent.
• LEED AP and/or WELL AP credentials are assets.
